Joe Daniel Football Quick Clinic

The Joe Daniel Football Quick Clinic is short, informative podcasts for American Football Coaches. I record them in the car on the way to practice, so you're not here for the audio quality. And if you're not a football coach, you probably won't like the show. Just a warning. If you are a coach... you're going to get some great ideas.

The Hawk Tackle is a hot topic among defensive football coaches today. The truth is, it’s not new.

The adaptation of the Rugby style tackle is all a part of keeping the head out. Reducing concussions. But many coaches are finding this to be a more effective way to get the ball carrier to the ground, too.

At a recent clinic, I learned more about the rugby-style tackle from… a rugby coach! Who is now a football coach.

In today’s Quick Clinic. I’ll talk about how to coach the Hawk Tackle. And some key points you might want to change.

JDFB Insiders includes a full length Web Clinic on how to coach the Hawk Tackle, including drill progression for teaching your players to execute on game day.

In a previous episode of The Quick Clinic, I talked about the advantages of Cover 1 for your football team’s defense. But every defense has a weakness.

Today I’ll look at how you can attack Cover 1 coverage. There’s a lot more to it than just beating the man 1 on 1.

Want to get more on passing concepts? The Pistol Power Offense has all that you need, and you get Instant Access when you join JDFB Insider. Get all the details at https://joedanielfootball.com/membership

The Zone Count System is a key component to our Pistol Power Offense System. This is the first step in determining who to block on the Zone play.

Check out the numbering system. Once we know the numbering, then you go to the Covered / Uncovered principle that makes this play a ‘Zone’ run.

Cover 1 or Man Free Coverage is one of my favorites. We feel like it is easy to teach the concepts, and difficult for high school quarterbacks to attack.

In this episode of The Joe Daniel Football Quick Clinic, I'll show you some of the advantages of this coverage. It has been a great coverage in our 4-2-5 Defense System available to JDFB Insiders

I've been using quick little method to create great drill videos for  our players using nothing but my iPhone. The best part is it only takes about 5 minutes to create a 1-minute instructional video.

We're uploading those videos to our Programax account. You can learn more about Programax at www.programax.org.
